We bought something similar to this for our dogs. Obviously, it is a larger version. We never actually ended up using it in its intended way. Instead we added latches and use it to block the front of our garage. So now when we are outside playing pool, or watching football in there, the dogs can be outside with us without running off. And it is great, because we can just fold it up when we aren’t using it.
We have used it that way for 3 years I think, and it is still in great condition. I bet the one here on your site would be great for a small pet. Still need to let them out to run around frequently I am sure, but when you need them to stay in one place for a while seems like a great idea.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, Jamie!
Yes, the Marshall Playpen for ferrets is similar to playpens for dogs and can serve similar purposes–as a playpen and as a barrier.
Interesting, I’ve never seen one of these before but I really do like them. It’s good that we can give ferrets a safe place for indoors and outdoors, so it’s great that it’s portable. So many pros and only a few cons. The cons aren’t even a big issue if you ask me, especially when it has a lot of pros.
Thanks for your comment, Brandon! Playpens for ferrets are new to a lot of people. There are a lot of pros and few cons, as you said for the Marshall Playpen.
I just think this is so cute! I love that it’s open and airy and that you can put this outside so your pets can get some fresh air but still keep them contained and safe. It’s always great that it comes with an expansion option. I’ve not seen something like this, I’ve only seen cages. So this is great! Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome, Courtney! Thanks for visiting Ferret Lovers!
That playpen looks like it would be a lot of fun for a ferret, and the opportunity to take them outside in a safe environment is a plus. Where do you get the other toys and tubes for the ferret to play in? Can a person get some of the fun extras at a local pet shop? Would the ferret be safe if you just pinned chicken wire to the top or are they able to escape through the small holes?
Yes, the Marshall Playpen can be lots of fun for ferrets! I would not want to use chicken wire because of the potentially sharp edges and wires. Some pet stores carry some ferret toys and tubes–it depends on the store and location.
